Socialization process and techniques
- Jones, G. R. (1986). Socialization tactics, self-efficacy, and newcomers' adjustments to organizations. Academy of Management Journal, 29, 262-279. This is the most commonly used measure, and closely corresponds to the work of Van Maanen and Schien on socialization and their six dimensions of socialization content.
- Ashford, S. J., & Black, J. S. (1996). Proactivity during organizational entry: The role of desire for control. Journal of Applied Psychology, 81, 199-214. This study includes a scale of proactive information seeking that has been used in a number of studies.
- Kammeyer-Mueller, J.D., & Wanberg, C.R. (2003). Unwrapping the Organizational Entry Process: Disentangling Multiple Antecedents and Their Pathways to Adjustment. Journal of Applied Psychology, 5, 779-794. This paper includes a measure that decomposes socialization into perceived influences from co-workers, supervisors, and the organization as a whole.
